What type of art do you create?

I love painting with richly pigmented and high-quality water based paints with regular accents of oil pastel, pencil, pen or charcoal onto beautifully textured cotton, archival watercolor paper.

The three ways my original works are prepared and finished are:

  • On Paper: Original art on paper is created on beautifully textured cotton archival watercolor paper. This means that the paper is acid free and free from “brighteners” which artificially makes watercolor paper look whiter. The paper is also permanent, so it will likely outlast us all. If you come to own an original piece, it is highly recommend that you have it professionally framed. Framing not only elevates your art work, it also protects it from dust, dirt and other elements. Also, be sure to display your original work away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.

  • On Canvas: This is the careful process of permanently adhering watercolor paper to a gallery style cotton canvas. Once the paper is completely attached and dry, and the original painting is complete, the original art work is finished with UV protectant and sealed with wax creating a clear, satin finished barrier against moisture and debris. This technique eliminates the need for glass framing and allows the beautifully rich texture of watercolor paper to be on full display, with the edges of the cotton canvas. If you choose to frame your original work, a floating frame creates a minimal and elegant finish frame.

  • On Wood Panel: Similar to canvas, this is the process of permanently securing cotton watercolor paper to a gallery style birch or oak wood panel. Once the paper is set and the original painting is complete and dry, the original art work is layered with UV protectant and finished with wax creating a clear, satin-like barrier against moisture and debris. This technique allows the uniquely delicate practice of watercolor painting to be experienced without glass.

I also offer Fine Art Prints of favorite originals from past collections:

  • Fine Art Prints: The type of print created from some of my original works is called a Giclee reproduction. This is a type of print done on a very large professional printer that uses a variety of colored inks that results in an extremely detailed way to create a reproduction. The ink that is transferred to the paper is received in such beautiful detail, it is sometimes hard to tell the print from the original. Each reproduction is printed on high quality watercolor paper - so you will see some of the lovely texture original watercolors are known for.

Good things take time, so ordering a fine art print will usually take anywhere from 7 to 10 days, longer if you choose to get it framed (please e-mail me) as these tasks are completed by wonderful local businesses.

Frame or not to frame?

In short, if you collect an original paper piece or fine art print - you should have your piece framed. If you collect an original on wood panel or canvas, you do not need to have it framed. These pieces will come to you layered with UV and moisture protected ready to be enjoyed - without a frame.

Do you paint commissions?

Yes! I love creating personal and original pieces specific for a space or an event. Whether you desire a collection of pieces for your home or a statement piece for an office space, I would love to discuss the details with you. Please email me concerning your commission interest.
